Central Highlands Regional Council Supports Local Towns with Website

1 August 2008

With the March 15th election fading into distant memory, councils are now getting on with business. One of the immediate challenges is engaging with your community which in some cases is much larger, more diverse and expecting much more from the new Council.

Amongst other things, as an elected member your community expects that you will:

  • foster community spirit and maintain local identify;
  • provide the tools and mechanisms to unite the community and enable interaction and information sharing and
  • promote local business.

Like many others in Queensland, the community of Capella and Tieri were faced with amalgamation of their council and potential loss of their local identity. The newly elected Central Highlands Regional Council recognised the issue and moved quickly to develop a website that was community focussed. You can visit Capella and Tieri community portals @ www.capella.com.au and www.tieri.com.au.

Utilising their LGOnline subscription, Council was able to deliver a solution easily and quickly. The ongoing support, hosting and assistance in managing content is provided for free under Councils LGOnline subscription.
